Colorectal Cancer Screening Saves Lives

If You Are 50 Years and Older, Get Screened

Of all of the Cancers affecting both men and women per the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Colorectal Cancer (Cancer of the Colon and Rectum) is the 2nd leading Cancer killer in the United States.  However, it doesn’t have to be. Screening can find precancerous polyps—abnormal growths in the colon or rectum—so they can be removed before turning into cancer.  Early screening and treatment often leads to a cure.

If you have positive family history for Colorectal Cancer, talk to your doctor about when to begin screening, which test is right for you, and how often to get tested.

A Few Tests Include...

V  Use of Antibodies to detect blood in single sample, yearly

V  Physicians using a flexible, lighted tube (Colonoscope) to look at the interior walls of the Rectum and the entire Colon (every 10 years, or sooner if previous polyps) as a screening test or as a follow-up diagnostic tool

Foods to Prevent Colon Cancer:

Folate and Fiber helps to prevent Colon Cancer.  Eat a variety and plenty of fruits and vegetables, like:

Leafy Greens - Legumes - Carrots - Cucumbers - Blueberries - Raspberries, etc.

Remember, Colorectal Cancer Screening Saves Lives,
