February - Healthy Family Tips

Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Corinthians 6:19-20

Take Charge of Your Health. Health Concerns of African Americans (AA)

AA have the highest mortality rate of any ethnic group for most major forms of cancer.

AA are twice as likely to be diagnosed with diabetes as non-Hispanic whites, and are more likely to suffer serious complications e.g. Kidney disease and amputations.

AA are 40% more likely than non-Hispanic whites to have high blood pressure, and are less likely to have blood pressure under control.

AA make up only 13.6% of the population, but they account for 43% of HIV infection cases.
