Healthy Eating

Fall is quickly approaching and is  is a time for a new harvest Shield Yourself from the Flu: Protect yourself from this year’s strains.

You cannot get the flu from the vaccine. However, if you are sick with cough, cold or runny nose with or without fever you should avoid getting the shot until you are well.   Remember good hand hygiene and covering your cough are the best ways, next to vaccination, to protect yourself from Influenza.   Influenza protection is especially needed for our young children and our elderly.

A representative from UnitedHealth Care, Tristian Best, will be joining us on the day of our flu clinics to help with facilitated enrollment for eligible individuals and families.   Any questions please do not hesitate to reach me, Carolyn Jacobs MD, MPH.

Here’s to a Healthy and Blessed Fall

Read....

30 Minutes a Day

Each summer, the City School District encourages students to choose a book and read 30 minutes per day. Every day.

The Health Ministry at Mt. Olivet supports this initiative.  We also encourage everyone, Adults - Children -Students,  to join the initiative by choosing a book and committing to reading it over the summer recess.

Why read?

Reading can help to develop your verbal skills, improve your focus, reduce stress and improve your memory.  So, visit the Little Lending Library to see if there's a book that might interest you.  It's simple, take a book to read, leave a book to share.

God bless, Sis. Shirlyn, Health Ministry Chair
