Alzheimer's is a disease that attacks the brain. It
is the most common form of dementia.
Dementia is a general term for a
decline in mental ability severe enough to
interfere with daily life. It is the most common cause of
Dementia for people 65 years and older. In 2016, it is estimated that 5.3
million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer’s disease, including 5.1 million over
the age of 65 and 200,000 over the age of 85. By 2020 that number is expected to
balloon to 7.1 million, a 40 percent increase in less than a decade.
Throughout 2016, Mt. Olivet will
host various Alzheimer's Workshops to education Mt. Olivet and the community
about this disease.
